Apology Accepted

So, I had briefly mentioned my disappointment with the welcome/registration part of my weekend up at Hume Lake Christian Camps with the MSM. Well, apparently my comments did not fall upon deaf ears, which is weird, because I never expected them to fall on ANY ears... I recently got this letter of apology:

Dear Tony,

First, and foremost, please accept our most sincere apology. We missed the mark when it came to welcoming you and making you feel welcomed when you were registering your students with us for Winter Camp. Your (very well written) blog came across the airwaves the other day, and it got my attention! We're not only sorry, but embarrassed, as well.

You're absolutely right, Tony, you should expect more from a Christian organization, and all the staff here at Hume Lake works real hard to look after and take care of our guests. I don't have all the details of your visit with us, but I did meet with all of our Registrars and Front Office staff and shared your blog with them.

As you well know, the check-in process can be tedious with all the information we're required to get, and all the details we need to cover with our guests. Compounded by the self-induced pressure of getting everyone processed in a timely manner (due to lines forming), we sometimes lose sight of what the true purpose of registering should be--a welcoming!

Although we strive for perfection, knowing there's always room for improvement, your blog was a great reminder to help all of us focus on what's truly important ... and for that we're thankful!

We are committed to you as our valued customer. You deserve better from the Hume Lake team and we let you down. Regaining your confidence is important to us, and all of us here hope you will give us another opportunity to, once again, serve you.

If you'd like to discuss anything, I'd love to hear from you. You can reach me at the number listed below.

Sincerely,
Bob Plouffe

That is verbatim, emphasis, parenthetical statements and all. I was really surprised when I read the letter. I still have NO idea how they found my blog. I even checked my mapstats, and there wasn't a search result of Hume or anything like that. So strange.

As shocked as I was, it was a pleasant shocking. I was rather encouraged by the response they had to my blog and am very appreciative of their strides to rectify the situation. If it were my decision to go back there next winter for our annual trip, they definitely would have earned a second chance. Alas, that is not my decision to make, so we shall have to wait and see what happens next year.

First: How nice to see a new blog! I'll go ahead and take the credit for your inspiration.
Second: That letter is so awesome! How cool/creepy that they saw your blog. I don't think mapstats catches it all...
